Entry-level software job postings dropped by roughly two-thirds between 2023 and 2024. And AI's share of cited job cuts has climbed from under 1% in 2024 to the #1 cited cause by March 2026 (Challenger, Gray & Christmas).
These aren't abstract numbers. They represent the first rung of the career ladder: the junior analyst positions, the associate roles, the entry-level coordinator jobs that used to be how graduates broke into industries.
Which jobs are disappearing
